Mechanism of Action

Ursodeoxycholic acid is a bile acid that reduces the hepatic synthesis of cholesterol and increases the intestinal absorption of dietary fats. It improves liver function by promoting bile flow and reducing cholesterol crystallization in bile, making it effective in treating cholestatic liver diseases, including primary biliary cholangitis.

Indication

Indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis and for the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in patients who are not surgical candidates.
