Mechanism of Action

Bempedoic acid is an ATP-citrate lyase inhibitor that lowers cholesterol levels by reducing hepatic synthesis of cholesterol and increasing hepatic uptake of circulating LDL-C. By lowering levels of LDL-C, it helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with hyperlipidemia.

Indication

Indicated as an adjunct to diet and maximally tolerated statin therapy for the treatment of adults with hyperlipidemia and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk.
